Series like Suits and Boston Legal help students at Alliance University to incorporate a different dimension to their law practice

Legal Drama series like Boston Legal and Suits not only have a great popularity among common masses, but a cult following among the lawyers, especially the budding ones. Students in law schools across the world have been following these television series as religiously as their educational curriculum. And the reasons are obvious - not only these shows are fun to watch but also lend an insight into the practical and global workings of the legal world.

While there exists a certain suave in the way James Spader and Harvey Specter close their cases in courts, there is also a lingering conscience that motivates the lawyer in them. And then of course, you have the head strong and veteran Denny Crane with his famous analogy for ‘end of discussion’- “Denny Crane”.

The sitcoms have a global fan following and in India, the spokesperson of a leading law school Alliance School of Law said that the students are often seen discussing the cases that the sitcoms deal with. Sometimes, they are too impressed by the hair breadth escapes of the heroes while the other times they wish it could be a little more realistic.

And in order to let the students ingrain an unconventional and different streak in to their practice, Alliance School of Law often conducts mock court sessions where the to-be-lawyers discuss cases from the television series. They try to adjust these cases according to the Indian legal structure and brain storm so as to find different angles. This practice has led a plethora of meaningful discussions with enriching ideas from the students and faculty, all alike.

Micro Management Vs Macro Management : Dr Madhukar Angur

There are different types of management styles as Macro and Micro Management. In business management, micromanagement is a management style where a manager closely observes or controls the work of their employees.
The term has a negative connotation because an employee may feel that the micro manager is being condescending towards them, due to a perceived lack of faith in the employee's competency. After being micromanaged, your staff will begin to depend on you, rather than having the confidence to perform tasks on their own. Micromanagement makes your team feel like they can no longer handle the work without your constant guidance. You have to remember that those employees were initially hired because they brought something to the table; skills, talents and insights all unique to each and every staff member.

In contrast to giving general instructions on smaller tasks while supervising larger concerns, the micro manager monitors and assesses every step. And Macro Management is entirely opposite of this  As in Macro style there is better level of Control. Macro management is anything very large scale, scope or capability, large controlling strategy.
The macro manager has confidence that he or she has hired competent workers who can complete the same task without being continually reminded of the process.

Tips to Crack CAT by Dr Madhukar Angur

Being a Professor Madhukar Angur would like to advice my students about how to aim CAT Exam 2015 . Nowadays almost all institutions conduct competitive entrance exams for selection of cream and best best candidate. And to clear such exams you need to understand your strengths and weaknesses .

I always say that "He who fails to plan, plans to fail", so one should always strategize a plan on how we can convert our weakness into strengths. These tests are also to check your time management ability that how efficiently you can manage .

I suggest my students to practice in writing and giving full mock tests as when u feel confident that u have prepared main topics. I have also noticed that some people have English as their weakness , so to them my advice is that develop habit to read newspaper , magazines from articles ranging history to current technology. This will definitely enhance your word power and knowledge.

Another important point is focusing on 100% accuracy . As such exams have negative marking students should try to fetch maximum out of Quantitative , logical sections. Eliminating unreasonable options is also a option one can adopt.

Students should really have to be cautious about the fact that which questions to attempt and which to leave because your score matters on choice of question you make .

All the Best students .
